Maybe it's a combination of the fresh mountain air mixed with the salty clean smells from the ocean. Maybe it's the blanket-like covering on the forest floor, or the peaceful canopy above. Or maybe it's the smell of the campfire smoke drifting its way through the dappled morning light.
Or maybe I'm a sap and I just like it a whole lot. :) I certainly like dappled light.
I haven't been camping nearly enough in the last year or so, so the overnighter that we've just returned from was a much-needed, nourshing journey! We discovered a spacious hayfield, which hummed with the buzz of honeybees feasting on the wildflowers. The beauty of the river was an unexpected surprise and a great place for some postprandial tai chi. There was plenty of warm sun, a steady cool breeze, and few other people. We'll be going camping for three or four nights this weekend, so this trip was a good jump start.
